Emergent Berlin Festival started out as way to show that we could create the world we want to live in and have a great time doing it. Since then our community and organization has grown in size and scope. Come help us celebrate as we transform the Panke into an Open Greeting Zone with groovy vibes all night long…

Bei Milonaut treffen barocke Texte auf sphärische Beats. Die vier Musiker aus Leipzig, Dresden und Berlin vereinen ihre musikalischen Hintergründe (Jazz, Klassik, Pop), um englische Barockpoesie mit ihrer eigenen Klangsprache zu verbinden.

Die erste sowie die zweite EP greifen barocke Gedichte auf und setzen sie in einen aktuellen Kontext. Die eigenen Texte sind manchmal sehr detailreiche Beschreibungen der Wirklichkeit aber auch fließende Beobachtungen einer nicht immer klaren Welt.

Klanglich verbinden die vier Musiker auf unbeschwerte Art und Weise vielfältige Stilistiken zu dem wiedererkennbaren Milonaut-Sound. Heraus kommt eine Mischung aus sphärischen Synthesizerklängen, rotzigen Bläserriffs und groovigen Basslines, die auf tanzbare Beats treffen, über denen eine warme, intensive und virtuose Stimme mal schwebt, mal schreit, mal rappt und improvisiert. Milonaut klingt als hätten sich Fat Freddy’s Drop, José James, Sophie Hunger, Pink Floyd und Radiohead getroffen, um gemeinsam tanzbare Musik zu machen.

2023 wird die zweite EP der Band erscheinen. Diese ist die logische Folge auf die erste EP „More than Moon“. Gedichte von John Donne und William Blake bekommen ein tanzbares musikalisches Gewand aus breiten Synthesizerflächen, Bläserriffs, geerdeten Beats und fetten Basslines. Die Songs erzählen von Beziehungsgeschichten und der Suche nach sich selbst in diesen Beziehungen. Illustriert wird das Ganze von einem Bild der Künstlerin Elizabeth Joan Clarke, die genau wie die Band in ihrer Kunst die Verbindung zwischen alter Handwerkskunst und neuer Interpretation schafft.

Our 10th annual festival brings together fellow local initiatives, organizations and neighbors who want to take action for sustainability from personal, ecological, aesthetic, cultural, economic and social perspectives.

Emergent Berlin is a self-organized gathering and invitation for open exchange, connections and creating synergies. This year’s festival theme is a riff on the 1971 song “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” by Gil Scott Heron and sets the tone for the gathering. The main point of the song is that the first change needs to take place in your mind and that we can not rely on main stream forces to come up with or enact the solutions we need in time enough to save and preserve what is left of our world. In 2023 it seems that our situation is quite similar…

• 3 days program to celebrate, reflect, exchange ideas, co-create and experience an evolution in your own ways in the cozy, informal and creative atmosphere of Baumhaus
• 2 evenings of parties in Panke Club
• 1 art exhibition at Baumhaus
• Open Greeting Zones everywhere!
