Emergent Berlin 2025 – Reclamation :: Pre-Open Call

We are currently organizing our next Emergent Berlin festival, basically what we do at Baumhaus, but on a bigger scale and more intense.  The festival will be in several event spaces in our building at Gerichtstr. 23 including Baumhaus, Panke and several other spaces. We would like to get around 2000 people to come out between June 13 – 15.

We will need some help organizing various parts of the festival and some more content if you are interested in helping out with this project…  Below is a description of the event, if you’re interested let me know and we can have a phone chat to get a better focus on any synergies…

The theme and spirit of this year’s Emergent Berlin festival will be, „Reclamation“.  The festival will focus on regular everyday people from all walks of life reclaiming their agency and ability to have a positive practical impact on society, reclaiming the narrative of what a good or successful economy looks like, reclaiming our ability to live humane, meaningful and satisfying lives in balance with ourselves, each other and the natural world.

We offer people and organizations to participate this year by hosting a short presentation, workshop, panel discussion, film screening, art, music, performance, displaying promotional materials or however else they can.  Since the event is a lot about perspective and skill exchange, the format will be a ‚Superhero Training Camp‘ where we can have fun helping each other get new ideas, perspectives, alliances, support, visibility and above all, an authentic sense of solidarity in the realization that we are all on the same team – team save ourselves, each other and life on the planet, each working in different areas to accomplish the same goal.

This alliance of everyday superheroes is known as The Evengers, those who dedicate themselves to bringing more balance (evenness) into the world personally, ecologically, aesthetically, culturally, economically and socially – PEACES.  We will also use this festival to launch a new well curated website, ourworld.solutions that will list and network various different organizations and individuals who are working on the same goals from many different perspectives.  We hope to attract a lot of media to cover the festival to the benefit of all.

Emergent Berlin is a festival organized by Baumhaus since 2013, bringing together fellow local initiatives, organizations and neighbors who want to take action for sustainability from personal, ecological, aesthetic, cultural, economic and social (peaces) perspectives. This year’s theme: “ Reclamation”

Every year our format is a bit different, this year you get to help decide what content we will offer.  One our big goals of the festival is to help create a movement across general society to raise consciousness and see the value, sense and satisfaction of living in balance with ourselves, each other and the natural world.

Transitions from 2024 to 2025

It has only a few weeks into the new year and there’s already been a lot of news from all around the world to process, much of it leaving some sense of despair and a bit giving some hope.

Here in Berlin the signs of a changing world show up as budget cuts and the shock of seeing flowers still growing on the balcony in late January.  The point is that we here in Berlin still have it better than people in most large cities around the world…

Most importantly, we still have the very realistic possibility (and responsibility) to shape our city and its culture.  We still each have the possibility to meaningfully contribute our ideas, skills, talents, passions, energy, love, resources and networks towards the transformation to a culture, relationships and economy based on dynamically balanced regenerative systems.

It’s time to reclaim the narrative, live it by example and share the joy of it widely.  Maybe we can become that example of getting it right that the world needs.  It’s in this spirit that you are invited to join in organizing and participating in Emergent Berlin festival 2025, „Reclamation“ (June 13-15) or any one of our collaborative projects.  The first meeting will be during our upcoming commmunity networking event on Saturday January 25.

Where’s Da Fire!

Another vocal freestyle groove reflecting on the latest fires like the LA wildfires and the Gaza cease fire. On this day, January 20th when we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. but at the same time Trump is inaugurated for a 2nd term, I am just wondering where is the fire in people’s hearts to act to make the world a safer and better place…

Here’s a look back at some recent events and community connections that have filled our weeks in October and November:

✨Our last Community Networking Night with an open house for our LebensMittelPunkte project brought together familiar and new faces in a lively atmosphere. We had a great time fermenting and drying fruits and vegetables, and showcased our work as a partner of the @switch.diet project. The night sparked fantastic conversations about future health and nutrition – thank you to everyone who joined!

🍏We’re also committed to impactful discussions on broader health and community topics. At the Gesundheitskonferenz of OE QPK @ba_mitte_berlin we hosted a workshop and continued the conversation with @miriamlowack, which highlighted the importance of transcultural encounters that foster community resilience. 🌞🙏

Some activities took us outside our space. We loved catering with CSA veggies at @agrikulturfestival_berlin and supported other LebensMittelPunkte initiatives like @kulturlabor_trial_error and @haus_der_nachbarschafft . Collaborative connections like these make our work even more meaningful. 🤝

🌱We also offered our venue to like-minded organizations looking to create positive change, like @migrationsrat.berlin and @bqn_diversitaetskompetenz . If you’re working on sustainable projects, want to give an eco-friendly workshop, or searching for a shift in your community-centered ideas, Baumhaus has the right atmosphere, expertise, and energy for hosting your event!
